Abstract

Baby-led weaning is a method of introducing solid food to babies whereby purées and spoon-feeding are skipped entirely in favour of finger foods that a baby self-feed. At its core, baby-led weaning emphasizes independence of the baby. A parent is to wait for their baby to show signs of readiness for eating and to follow the baby's cues in all matters of introducing solid food. Babies are brought to the table for family meals, encouraged to pick up food with their own fingers, and trusted to eat as much or as little as they need. Babies introduced to solids with baby-led weaning also continue breast or bottle feeds and are permitted to determine when those milk feeds should be reduced. The present study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of video assisted teaching module (VATM) on knowledge regarding on importance of baby led weaning among parents of toddler. 60 sample were collected by using Non probability purposive sampling technique through structured knowledge questionnaire the data collected and analysed based on descriptive and inferential statistics. The result of the study showed that the post-test mean score (16.86) was high where compared to the pre-test mean (9.45) score of knowledge. The obtained “t” value (19.40) was greater than table value & df value 2.00which was p <0.05 level of significance, which shows that there is significant difference between pre-test and post-test level of knowledge hence the formulated research hypothesis. H1 was acceptedH01 rejected. The test revealed that there was no significant association of knowledge with selected demographic variable such as age in year, gender, occupation, religion, type of family, family income, place of residence, previous knowledge, source of information and significant with education.
